Divine Love Prayer Circles

Special thanks to Terry for taking a lead role on behalf of the DLSF Board in updating this hand-out on How To Develop Spiritual Power! Even the title of the document has been changed, but the principles of how to develop spiritual conditions in group prayer have not changed.

The practice and culture of our Divine Love prayer circles in the Vancouver area began decades ago, under the capable leadership of Alec Gaunt, who was the first to find the volumes of Padgett's messages in a used book store in Vancouver! Alec was a great psychic and was told where to go to find the books and he found a bright light around the books sitting on an old dusty shelf in the back of the store! Alec actually doubted his guidance when he began to read the volumes, thinking they were the product of yet another religious doctrine and he put the books aside for some time until he could no longer ignore the promptings of spirit to read them!

Alec developed a broad continuum of prayer and healing circles in the lower mainland area surrounding Vancouver: there were discussion groups, groups to develop mediumship, healing groups, beginner's groups, and later on, groups for developing direct voice communication with Celestial guides and teachers.

Alec died in 1971 ....Barb, Bert & Shirley, along with Alec's friend through family Percy Hayes and his daughters kept the flame alive. Our current core group began praying together for Divine Love about 40 years ago.

Al and I inherited Alec's writings when he died in 1971 and found all his notes provided us with many insights and suggestions for praying together. Based on Alec's writing, we developed a handout in 2011 in an effort to "herd the kittens" and provide focus for the circles we were leading in Vancouver. Alec was a strong disciplinarian and kept those gathering together focused, with frequent reminders on staying positive, to keep one's mind on spiritual things, to pray for one another and to give one's criticisms and judgments of each other up to God!

This handout, most recently updated by Terry, (offered below), provides the basic principles that we use as a guide to starting up new Divine Love Prayer Circles on our travels. Like most hand-outs, it's a "work in progress" ! (We also begin prayer circles with some other instructions, like: sit quietly for up to an hour, no moving around, opening prayer / closing prayer, dim lighting, prayer requests / Blessings Bowl; creation of a current of energy in the circle, soft music, etc.).

We offer this handout here to visitors of this site and invite you to try it out and give us your feedback! We are open to your questions and comments!

Most importantly, we invite everyone who plans to attend the Divine Love Retreat in Gibsons this August, to pray every day for the participants planning to come and to build the highest spiritual conditions possible for our Celestial guides and Teachers to be with us at the Retreat.

Whether you will be able to join us in person or in simultaneous prayer, we believe the principles outlined can help us collectively to raise the vibrations around the world! Together, Divine Love followers around the planet have all been called to be channels for an infusion of Divine Love in our troubled world! Collectively we have all been called to help create Centres of Light around the planet.

DIVINE LOVE PRAYER CIRCLES -- How to Develop Spiritual Power in Group Prayer

The prayer culture of your Divine Love Sanctuary Foundation hosts is firmly rooted in the Truths conveyed in the published messages of James Edward Padgett of 1914 to 1922 (the “Padgett Messages”) and in our experience of 40 plus years of weekly group prayer. From this, we have developed some important practices which we share with you to assist in the preparation for and during the upcoming August Retreat. We ask that you use these practices as guidelines for creating the highest possible spiritual conditions for our individual and group progress.

• First and foremost is our intention to pray to receive into our souls the Essence of God, His Divine Love. By praying together with this singleness of purpose, we contribute to a powerful condition of Love that has transformative healing effects on ourselves, others and the world.

• We believe as the Padgett Messages teach that there are two distinct pathways to spiritual progression, the Divine Path and the Natural Path. The natural love is what we are born with and the refinement and development of this human love is defined as the natural pathway. The Divine Pathway focuses on one’s relationship with God and receiving the Divine Love into one’s soul. As the Love cleanses and transforms our souls, eventually we will become at one with our Creator. This Love is not a birthright but must be asked for of our own free will; otherwise we do not receive it. It exists outside of ourselves and is a blessing of God Who is a Being that has an Existence outside of our being. A purified soul in the natural sense will bring one close to God but a soul filled with enough Divine Love becomes a Divine Angel in at-onement with God. Two different loves, two different paths, complementary to one another.

• We honour all people and all religions. We believe that as we progress in receiving Divine Love, we receive the Truths within us. As our souls come ever closer to the Fountainhead of Love, false beliefs will fall away. There is no requirement to believe in a prescribed set of tenets or to have a particular belief structure other than to have faith that God’s Love is real and with its possession in abundance, Truth will come at the right time, in the right way and error will fall away as a natural consequence of being close to the Source of all Truth.

• We prepare for group prayer through our own daily prayer practice, meditation and dedication to stay attuned to the Loving Presence of our Creator. Though each person’s prayer rituals are unique, we all share the goal of growing in God’s Divine Love.

• We each take responsibility for the spiritual condition we bring to group prayer. If negative thoughts, feelings or judgments of self or others arise, we immediately stop and send the person love, asking for God’s blessings on that person and help in dissolving any negativity on our part. We prepare ourselves by keeping our thoughts positive and praying for each person participating in the group.

• We pray that God will place the Cloak of Protection around each one of us so we are free from all spirits and influences that are not Celestial. We ask that only Celestials serve as Guides and Teachers for the group and Gatekeepers for any medium being used. We believe that when all group members are of one mind in their intentionality to pray for
Divine Love, those in the group gifted as mediums will be protected from the presence of spirits that are not Celestials. Singleness of purpose protects everyone in the group from negativity.

• During the prayer, our Celestial Spirit Guides come close to us, envelop us in Love, helping us to open our souls to commune with God and receive Divine Love. They often bring messages of hope, healing and spiritual instruction.

• Ours is not a spiritualist circle. Although we receive messages and some of us may be blessed with the ability to see and hear spirit, this is not our primary reason to be together and can be a distraction from our real purpose. We are united in our goal to long for and receive God’s Divine Love so that we may grow as channels of His Love. We desire to progress spiritually on the Divine Path, rather than to open ourselves up on a psychic level. We pray together to reach for God as God is reaching for us. In our prayers, we invite Celestials to guide and protect us, and pray for the many spirits yearning for the Love who come for help and teachings. We know that as we grow in Divine Love, our gifts, psychic and otherwise, will develop.

• We know and honour many spiritual practices that use dancing, singing or chanting to reach a higher level of consciousness, and from time to time have participated in these kinds of sacred experiences. However, we conduct our group prayers in silence, as some participants enter levels of consciousness in which noise can be distressing. Also, when our mediums channel messages from Celestial Guides and Teachers, they become vulnerable to any noise or distraction.

• We typically pray for one hour with soft, peaceful music playing in the background. We all sit quietly with no talking or moving around. Prior to the prayer, we place written prayer requests on behalf of loved ones, ourselves or others in a “Blessings Bowl”. We open with a prayer, then meditate in silence until the taped music ends, signalling the conclusion of our sacred time. Al says a closing prayer on behalf of the group. Gently, slowly, we all return to present consciousness. After a period of comforting silence, those who wish to share their prayer experiences do so.

• Although we may be at different stages on our spiritual journey, God loves all of us equally. There is no hierarchy within the group. We love and respect each other as equals.

• This is not a church. We come together to establish bonds as a spiritual family and support one another as we progress in God’s Love. We each benefit greatly from membership in such a family and realize that with benefits come responsibilities for contributing to and sustaining our soul bonds. When we sit in Divine Love circles, our chemicals and spiritual essence are shared for mutual healing. We become connected in profound ways. Although we may lead varied and complex lives apart from one another, we are closely knit in a soul bond of love. We carry a part of each other with us wherever we go. These special connections will never be lost. Though we may be apart for a while, we will always have soul awareness and recognition of these bonds.

• We are open to anyone who wishes to join us in prayer for Divine Love. When we are gathered together, all that is required is a sincere desire to experience this sacred healing blessing, to put aside all other intentions and to pray as one for the Divine Love.

We believe that the more effort we each make in our private prayer life prior to the Retreat, the more we can contribute to the quality of group prayer and the greater the benefits will be for all.

Dear Ones,

Our next Divine Love Prayer circle in Gibsons is this Monday evening, May 4 at 5:30 pm, Pacific Standard Time…..we hope you will join us in person or in spirit to pray simultaneously! Two weeks ago when we sent out this invitation, we were thrilled to have people from around the world, join with us in prayer.

Indeed, we received the following encouraging messages from Mark and Confucius that there is a great light created when we all pray together with the Angels for God’s Love!

God enfolds you in His Love and it pours within you at this time as the angels surround you and the Light of His presence is with you all in this beloved circle. You have all been drawn to one another, my beloveds. The law of attraction works in this way, for each soul longs for Light and Love. Each soul has a great desire to be a channel of Love and Light in this world and in this desire, this resonance you are drawn together in Love.

And so God gathers the earnest souls in this way, and He sends His angels to minister and pray with you through the law of attraction. Love abounds amongst you, my beloveds, drink deep of this blessing. Allow the Love to flow into every part of your being and lift you from these earthly conditions to that higher place, that place where peace passes all understanding and Love is the very air you breathe, the very consciousness that permeates all of you, within you and around you.

And as you build this Light here amongst you there are tentacles of Light, strings of Light, rivers of Light reaching out to all of those who desire to connect and join with you in these prayers. You begin to form a lattice, a network in this world. And indeed creating centres of Light is part of your purpose, your work as God draws you close to the fountainhead of His Love, the Light pours through these channels, these circuits, these rivers to many whom you are connected to and who desire to connect with you creating this beautiful pattern, this tapestry of Light and Love in the world.

You are deeply connected to so many and as you move in the world there is communication and connections of Light and God uses you to direct this Light to others who are connected and there are many whom you are not yet aware, yet do exist in the world and are connected to you and to the efforts that you make and the Love that flows through each beautiful soul present in this circle. And so the work grows in this way and in time it will manifest in a more overt way, and it is already having its effects in the world and in the consciousness of mankind. And you work with many whom as I have said are not aware of you and you not aware of them, yet on this soul level there is a great harmonious family of God’s workers for Light and in time you will know one another, and you will work together in a conscious and overt way in the world. This is coming. You are on the verge of this and as you are each guided and as each of the others are guided you will come together through this law of attraction and through God’s guidance and through this mutual desire to do His Will in the world.

Be reassured, beloved souls, that all is unfolding in a harmonious way and all the elements required for this work to unfold, this plan of God’s to take shape, is indeed happening at this very moment and every moment of your lives. For you are truly committed to this, and the commitment will grow and the work will grow and the Love within your souls will light the way and the angels that surround you will guide and protect you and add their Light to your Light as others add their Lights to your Lights and you add your Light to their Light. A beautiful network of Light it grows and blossoms, like roots of a tree it spreads and connects and draws and gives as God enlivens this network with Light and Love.

Blessed are those who work in this way, who work in trust and faith, who are willing and humble. For in this you make a great and mighty channel of Love flowing out into the world. Continue in your prayers my beloveds, and walk this Path of Light, and have the sure knowledge that you are being led and guided and directed and used in many ways to bring the change in the world that is required and desired by God. God bless you, I am Mark and I have not spoken before through this instrument, but I do so joyfully and I greet you in your efforts and I greet you in Love, God bless you and keep you in this beautiful Light.

Beautiful souls, Confucius. So you see, my beloveds, how you are a part of a vast network of Light and souls serving our Heavenly Father in loving communion and fellowship. And many of these souls, whom you are not aware in a conscious way, you have met while you are in your sleep state and much work is accomplished in this time during the day. And yes, there will come a time when many of you will meet and work together and this will be a joyful time, a powerful time, of bringing Light and change into the world. We guide you along to this end so that you may accomplish your work and purpose in the world.

Continue in your prayers, beloveds, seek the Father’s Love, pursue your purpose and allow your souls to flourish within you and to envelope you in a consciousness of God. Beloveds, I love you and am ever with you, precious souls. Allow God’s grace to be with you always. God bless you.
