Helen Played Piano Too and new photo of Edward Riddle Padgett, Jr

Hello everyone, long time no see

In our continuing search to learn all the tidbits of James Padgett, Helen Padgett and all the characters in the Padgett Messages, we recently found a clip in the newspaper that Helen W. Hyde (notice the missing "e") played the piano. Back at the 100th Anniversary Retreat, we reported that Helenita played piano, and now we know where the Padgett family gets its musical gene from.

Also, another find, a photograph of Edward Riddle Padgett, Jr. (James & Helen's grandson) a little later in his life.

I do not know who the woman is, I suspect it may be his mother, Dora Adele Padgett (James and Helen's daughter-in-law), but I'm not certain.

Good to see these new finds and good to have you sharing them here. Thank you. And we have missed you.

I guess the "Hyde" could have been a typo at that time, but perhaps it also gives you a new avenue to find that photo that the angels tell us exists. Maybe sometimes it was spelled that way?

Geoff, I should have known the misspelled name was a clue when we found the listing of marriage licenses issued that included James and Helen -- and her last name was spelled "Hyde" there in 1880!

And it certainly gives a new avenue to continue the search! I have a gut feeling that somewhere between Hagerstown and Fredrick Maryland there might be a photo, if not of Helen, maybe the entire Heyde family.

I'll try to keep 'em coming, Al! By the way, I liked you with a beard/goatee - did you keep it?
