Why does it take so much longer to be fully "reborn" on earth?

Great conversation!

I think Geoff's point is clarified in this portion quoted by Eva:
Although there may be times of stagnation and apparent loss of this Divine Essence.
For example: A person longs for God as a youth and (unbeknownst to them) receives a portion of Divine Love. They don't know God's Divine Love exists and so are unaware of this momentous occurrence; they only know joy and an inclination toward loving and righteous behavior. Later, some tragedy, illness or heartbreak knocks this person off course and they seek solace in substance abuse. They spin down into anger and/or despair and become susceptible to the impressions of dark spirits. Now, their choices, thoughts and feelings are out of harmony with God's Love. The Divine Love is still in their soul, but, they are experiencing "...stagnation and apparent loss..." of this Divine Essence.

Such stagnation and even apparent loss can easily occur while on Earth, and even does occur in the Spirit World (though I imagine much less frequently). That said, the Messages tell us that some orthodox preachers who expected to go straight to Heaven, where they thought they would find Jesus reigning at the right hand of God, were disappointed to discover the Truth upon entering the Spirit World and did at first seem to regress or "lose" the Divine Love they had received while mortal.

Our comfort is that this loss is not real (only apparent), and we are assured that it is temporary. Once Divine Love has entered a soul, in even the smallest measure, the "leaven" of God's Love will eventually prevail.

Much Love,

Catherine

The assumption that it is quicker on the other side is not necessarily correct. It may potentially be quicker, but that is not the same thing as being quicker as it could easily take far longer in the absence of great longing and intent and without the constraints of physical time.
