We're Back

Post by AlFike »

After seven + weeks on the road we are now back in our home and counting our blessings. IT has been quite a journey full of surprises and gifts for the heart and soul. Never before had I ventured on such a long trip not having the usual understanding of where we are going and for what purpose. What began as a visitation from Jesus in a meditation several months back in which he said quite clearly to 'tend to his flock', developed into quite a junket from here to LA, Tampa ( Homosassa's Springs ), Queens New York and the country of Namibia. I truly believe that we could write a book about this journey. Not just about the places we have visited but also the many dear souls which we met and the spiritual openings derived from our collective prayers and experiences. Every day presented to us a multiplicity of meaningful and often surprising encounters. We were carried from one place to the other often being handed off to another dear soul willing and lovingly escorting us to where ever we needed to be.

You know that things are God guided when everything falls into place as it did on this trip. Starting with Jeanne's cousin in southern California making the long a grueling journey from his home south of LA during rush hour to pick us up at LAX .He brought us to his home where he and his wife had prepared a lovely meal and a comfortable bed. We had a fine evening swapping travel stories and catching up on family. The next day he and his wife took us to Laguna beach for lunch then a scenic drive through the mountains to Dennis and Suzie's place inland. The weather was warm and such a treat from our cool winter in Vancouver. Suzie , of course, greeted us with open arms and a long meaningful hug. We felt like we were coming home. If there is a way to describe the essence of these two dear souls it is warm, effusive and fun loving. Although we have only been in each other's presence for no more than a three weeks in total since meeting them two years ago, we are the best of friends and have the blessing of being able to pick up where we left off in this endearing relationship. So this was a fine start to such an ambitious trip. We thoroughly enjoyed each others company in conversation, prayer and feasting. Nothing I love more than a good talk, a good prayer and a good meal 8-) . Fortunately the former two were life enhancing but the last bit means going on a diet ASAP. :? .

Our visit to SoCal was a short one but the gang all got together for a prayer session on Saturday night. Marga and a friend, Joan, Holly, Judy and the four of us had a beautiful prayer and dinner afterwards. It was so nice to see these old friends again as well and to reinforce the bond that we share in the Love. Our souls resonated in prayer and the joy we felt in this fellowship was apparent and heart felt. The angels have said that we will be together in prayer again and again and this time seemed as if we had never been apart. There is nothing like receiving the Love in group prayer to bring folks from all walks of life into a sense of being part of a family. God's family of souls sharing the gift of His Love. I believe that this very feeling is what motivates us all to travel long distances to be together in prayer. It truly resonates with meaning and increased joy to be in this state of fellowship and grace together. One of the blessings of this trip is briefly meeting Cleo in San Diego. What a beautiful and eloquent soul this fine lady is. A class act all the way 8-) .

Suzie who would normally be working during the week was not while we were there and she kindly and generously drove us the 65 miles to the airport so that we could enter the next leg of our journey. Ruth was there to pick us up at 12:30 at night drove another two hours to our destination of Homosassa's Springs Florida. We had a few days with Ruth before our planned DL retreat at her son's beautiful riverside vacation home there. Although not as warm as California, it was very pleasant and exotic in the sense of the Antebellum South with long stings of old mans beard hanging from every tree and lush subtropical vegetation. Ruth gave us the master suite to sleep in which looked out of a magazine and big as our living space at home. Her son is a very successful back surgeon and this is one of several homes reflecting his great status in the field. He was nominated by Time magazine as one of the best surgeons in the US. Ruth just calls him Joey. Talking to one of the locals one day who asked me where I was staying of which I said Joey's place down the road. The look of horror on there face indicated my foe pas. You mean THE DOCTOR. He is obviously well respected in this town.

Our time with Ruth was fun and enlightening as we shared our spiritual stories, talked about the future of the DL movement and did some planning for the retreat. She also introduced us to the $2.50 breakfast and the $5.99 lunch buffet down the road and best of all the hole in the wall seafood restaurant which only the locals knew about. Heaping piles of fresh shrimp just off the boat and steamed with garlic to perfection for ten bucks 8-) . More dieting required!

Our Floridian guests soon arrived for our weekend prayer. Greg Boster from Lake Worth, Michael Baily from Coco Beach, Marion from Palm Beach with her friend Dorothy, Geraldine from Bradington and a big surprise in Kristen from north of Lake Worth. None of us other than Greg had met Kristen before and she is a ball of fire and a delight to be with. There was no stopping this beautiful lady. She wanted Divine Love and wasted no time in stating her intentions to get it and lots of it. Her questions and comments kept us all on our toes and endeared us to her very quickly. Look out world, Kristen is coming  .

Our days in Florida went quickly as we stayed a week with Ruth and spent some time with old friends in Sarasotta. They drove us to the airport in Tampa and away we went to the Big Apple. Queens borough to be exact to meet up with Hal and the trustees of the Hollis Hills Community Church. IT was COLD. Vancouver was the tropics in comparison and Florida was cool throughout our trip but New York was freezing. We even had trouble keeping our hotel room at a comfortable temperature. The cool temps was more than made up for by the very warm welcome we received from Hal and Co. We were scheduled to make a presentation at St. Johns University at a youth conference which Hal had organized. The theme was Love in Action and our breakout shared with grade ten and 11 high school kids was # It Starts Now!. We had to ask the kids what # ( hashtag) meant so it was a rather precarious start. We had a wonderful time and I think very successful. We had two one hour sessions with different groups and it is surprising how different each group was. Different topics and perspectives. It does give us both hope to hear these guys talk about their concerns and aspirations for the future. The next day we took in the sights of Broadway in a snow storm. We shivered in line for half price tickets in Times Square and got the show Kinky Boots for our efforts. It was a rollicking and a bit off color musical which we all enjoyed. Just as an example of how things flowed on this trip, we were able to get free street parking 100' off Broadway. Hal said that this was unheard of. Lucky us as parking in New York can be as pricey as an expensive dinner. The next day we met Lydia and Peter who are the main players along with Hal for the church. This church has some significance to it as I have seen it in a vision playing some significant role in the Divine Love Movement. So we were anxious to meet those involved with the building and found Peter and Lydia to be delightful. Although their foundation is more in line with orthodox Christianity, they were very open to us doing some work in the church. We had already scheduled a Dl retreat there on our way back from Namibia. It appears that what I saw there may indeed have some validity. We'll see what the future holds :) Hal escorted us to the airport the next day. Luckily the snow had stopped and all was in order for our next and longest leg of the trip to see Helge in Namibia.

We flew for 15 hours to Johannesburg then had to back track another two hours to Windhoek Namibia. Helge was there with her big smile and open arms to greet the weary travelers. She had her Dad's big SUV to transport us in luxury while we cooled our heals in the capitol in anticipation of meeting Geoff who was on a flight the next day. We marveled at the African landscape all thorn bushes and acacia trees. We certainly weren't in Kansas any more. Helge took us to a local game farm the following day where we were able to see lions, leopards, cheetahs and carricol cats close up in large enclosures. Our guide brought big chunks of meat to throw over the fence in order to draw the cats close to us. We had lions snarling and roaring at us no more than 15 feet from where we stood. You don't get how powerful and deadly these creatures are until you have one look you in the eyes with a deadly and vicious stare. Their roar is deafening. Their appetite voracious. I'm glad that we at least had a heavy gage wire fence between us.That evening we drove to the airport and picked up Geoff who had an equally long trip from Australia . I must say that he always astounds me with his ability to sluff off jet lag so easily. By the next morning he was ready to go as we had planned our trip to Drimiopsis to see the community and site for the future orphanage which Helge is spearheading. On the way we stopped off to see Magdelena, one of Helge's beloved friends and care giver to many children. She unfortunately is suffering from kidney failure and cannot return to the camp. We had a prayer and healing with her and her friends outside of Windhoek. It was a sad occasion since she is yearning to go back home and tend to her children both hers and adopted but her health keeps her close to the hospital for dialysis.

Our next stop was Drimiopsis camp which was several hours drive from the city. We were late and considered going directly to Helge's farm house but she felt that this would not be in harmony with our intended mission. So we pushed on to the camp and we were greeted by over 100 children and adults. They had put off the food distribution until we had arrived so that we could see how everything was organized. We had a tour of the facilities and a raucous greeting from the children. It was obvious that we were the vip's and they were so curious and open to our presence. After the food was distributed and eaten, the children lined up and began to dance for us. I was moved to tears to see these kids living in deprivation virtually unknown in the western world but were eager and willing to put on a show and greet us so exuberantly and with joy. My eyes were open that day to something that I am still digesting. I must say that I had to fight that overwhelming feeling of guilt for what I have and they do not. Fortunately our spirit friends advised us that morning to not feel guilt or shame for what we have but to use whatever resources we are able to assist and support the efforts to bring healing to this place. I am now 100% committed to do what I can to support Helge in her efforts to raise up these desperate people. It's a huge task and one which will take a lot of wisdom and strength. Helge needs all the prayers and material support we can muster in order to make a positive change there.

The next day we were given a more in depth tour of the village. We visited sick and elderly residents living in absolutely depressing conditions. We prayed with each one and the healing flowed. We also visited a preschool which was started by a local ministers wife . They felt called to go to Drimiopsis and are volunteering their services for the good of the community. There are positive things happening there but change is slow and tedious. It will certainly take time to affect any longstanding change as there is virtually no economy there. We finished our day with a meeting with the elders to hear their concerns. We all had a chance to say a few words with Helge interpreting . We promised to return sometime in the near future to help in whatever way we could. This will not be our last trip to this place of great need but beautiful people .

I will close off now and continue tomorrow as it is getting late and I'm still dealing with jet lag. I'll begin again in the morning.Much love......Al
Endless journey,endless Love.

Dear Al and Jeanne,

Thank you for taking time to write this. I have been waiting and looking for something that would link me to your long journey of nearly 2 months. It is an astounding account. As I read I felt I was there with you, and in spirit I suppose that I was.

Again, thank you...and I am looking forward to the second part.

With love and a hug and prayers,

Joseph

Thanks Joseph for your comments. Yes there is a lot to tell as each day brought something new and meaningful. What I'm sharing here gives a glimpse of it but not the whole story as the time commitment is too great. I'm sure that if you were me Joseph, you would write a book about it. We are considering publishing the messages received on this trip and making a pamphlet out of it. There are at least 45 messages which were recorded and are now transcribed. Some editing needs to be done in order to spruce them up but they should be available soon. The next few days are busy ones as we are having guests from out of town and its Jeanne's birthday tomorrow. Never a dull moment ;). So it will take time to organize these messages. Helge, Brian Holmes and Ruth Duval have all pitched in to transcribe. We recorded all the messages on Jeanne's Blackberry and they were amazingly clear and much better than the digital tape recorder that we normally use. There were many dimensions to this trip, some superficial and enjoyable as any holiday is while other parts were deeply spiritual and contained wonderful lessons and opportunities for growth. I'm combining the two to give as accurate picture as I can. I'm glad Joseph that you are enjoying it thus far. I'll continue now......

Drimiopsis was both a pleasure and a shock to the system. I've seen extreme poverty before but it is usually through the glass of a vehicle or the arms length of a tour group. This is tourism at its worst and I must admit that it brings a certain level of ease when viewing such things from a distance. It's a way of protecting oneself from the full on confrontation of the extreme inequities of the world. We are on one side of the fence with so much even if we feel that we are lacking and they are on the other side with so very little. Yet the have nots seem to make much out of very little and often experience a pure joy in these circumstances while we worry about how to keep what we have and fret about the future. Of course the very poor are also very vulnerable. What is a joy today can become a nightmare tomorrow. We visited some dear souls suffering from aids as we went about the village and believe me, they are in hell. No medical attention, very little food and extreme discomfort. It breaks your heart to witness such deprivation and hopelessness. It is easy to fall into that hole with them when you glimpse the extent of the dysfunction and lack in this place. Most drink in order to dull the pain. I'm sure if I were in their shoes I would do the same. But God brought us here for many reasons, one is to witness the extent of the problem which repeats itself all over the world and two to find a way to do His work in these places. The learning curve will be steep and edifying. Our trip to Drimiopsis was the most significant leg of our trip IMHO, it brought something very real to light and begs us to put love in action towards this venture to relieve the suffering of these lost and powerless souls. I'm sure much will come of this as we open ourselves up to God's guidance in the future. I feel confident that answers will be given and opportunities will open to all of us to participate in this loving work.

We returned to Windhoek after a few days at Drimiopsis, staying on Helge's farm which was serene and beautiful. There we picked up Geoff's sister, Trish who had flown in from Joburg. We began the next leg of our trip which was pure joy. We headed up the road to Etoshia National park in northern Namibia. The park covers thousands of square miles and our hours of driving reflected our ambition to see as much as we could of this natural landscape and all the animals which it contained. We were not disappointed. We saw lions mating, roaring up a storm under Helge's tent set up high on a ridge in the middle of a plain. We saw thousands of springboks and zebras, many giraffes, wildabeasts, hartibeasts and kudus ,warthogs, elephants, painted tortoises, striped mongoose and even a few rhinos. The birds were everywhere and many were brightly colored and exotic looking to our eyes. The landscape was pure Africa with plains which seemed to go on forever dotted with acacias and thornbush. It was the rainy season so the grasses in many areas were lush and green. We saw many babies which are born in this season in order to take advantage of the abundant grazing. It was everything you would imagine Africa to be. Pure and unspoiled , untouched for millennia. Our time there will stay in our memories for a very long time.

After Etoshia, Geoff and his sister had to return to Joburg for a wedding. Helge, Jeanne and I stayed in Winhoek overnight and were invited to Helege's brother Henning for dinner and a prayer. I must say that Henning and his wife Sonia were an absolute delight along with their two young sons and surprisingly keen to talk about spiritual things. We had a prayer together with one of their neighbors and received some personal and powerful messages for Henning and Sonia. The evening was a gift to us all as we felt so welcome and in many ways honored for our gifts and presence with them. Jeanne and I both feel sure that we will be working with this beautiful couple in years to come.

We were on the road again the next day headed for Helge's present home in Swakopund on the coast. Helge lives in a home on the property of her parents Hans and Fraukie . Hans had lent his new car to us for our touring of the country. This vehicle made all the difference to our trip as it was spacious and comfortable. Hans and Fraukie had to make due with Helge's car which was not quite on the same level of luxury . This was only one aspect of this families generosity shown to us as we stayed for a week long visit. Fraukie, like her daughter is very keen on prayer for Divine Love. Every day we had prayers together and even Hans joined in . Hans asked many questions because of his upbringing in the Lutheran Church. Surprisingly Martin Luther came through to answer some of them. This stimulated more discussions and I think He just gave up because what we were saying was too confrontational to his beliefs. This did not get in the way of his generous hospitality and friendly demeanor. He and I had many conversations before bed time and I enjoyed his company very much. Unfortunately Fraukie's English was not as good so communications were a bit strained but we managed and both Jeanne and I fell in love with this gentle and loving soul. She is a kindred spirit in every way. Our stay in Swako was delightful and spiritually enlivening. The climate there was cooler than inland since it is influenced by currents coming up from the Antarctic. The coastline is very dry. It felt as if we were in Saudi Arabia, surrounded by high sand dunes which we walked every evening in order to give us and their three dogs some exercise. And we certainly needed to burn the calories since Fraukie and Helge fed us many calorie infused German meals. I also contributed by barbequing a Canadian meal on the indoor BBQ . Guests were invited and we all had a good time despite some language difficulties. Lots of snapps were hoisted in toasts to the Canadians.

Our trip to Namibia was coming to an end . What was three weeks felt like both three days and three months. Our final day was spent at Hennings vacation retreat on a reservoir close to Windhoek. There were more prayers together and lots of conversations. We had certainly become fast friends and encouraged them to come to Gibsons to return their hospitality. Some day I'm sure that we will see them gracing our doorstep.

We were off again to complete the last leg of our trip by flying to New York to meet with Hal and co. at the Hollis Woods church. New York was milder but not by much. Hal picked us up at the airport , our flight arriving early in the morning. We rested up that day from our long flight. The next few days were spent getting the church in order for the retreat and planning the itinerary. Some people had signed up on a free website called Event Brite but when Friday night rolled around, none of those folks showed up. So we had a small group consisting of Brian and his wife, Debora and her partner Ada, Peter and Lydia, Jeanne and I and of course Hal. Our first night went well but Brian's wife and Ada could not attend the rest of the weekend. Our small group was harmonious and everyone was affected by the power of the Love as we were surrounded by the angels who spoke to us in endearing terms and teaching ways. We believe that the church is an important place in which to spread the truths of God's Love. I think that the angels, from Jesus on down confirmed this with James Padgett giving a somewhat detailed message to this end. It will be interesting to see what develops with Hollis Woods. It's an old building in need of many repairs and upgrades. When I get the impressions regarding the work I always ask where the money is going to come from in order to make these things a reality. Spirit always reassures us that the resources will be there and to be patient. Lets hope that they are right because there is nothing much to work with regarding this church's resources. They are barely keeping the bills paid. Hal does wonderful work through the church to help disempowered youth and he is gifted at helping to build self esteem in insecure kids. The work that he does is a reflection of love in action. He is truly gifted and willing to sacrifice much in order to help these teens. We both have great admiration for what he has done there. He is eager to bring in the spiritual component into his work and into the church. Time will tell if we are all successful in this venture. Faith requires patience and wisdom. May we receive both RIGHT NOW! ;) .

Our trip ended after the retreat. Fond farewells exchanged between all of us who were in Queens. We had a delightful last day with Hal and Brian. Brian was able to get us to the airport for our early evening flight and we arrived home to be greeted by Terry who kindly drove us to her apartment and gave us a bed for the night. Although we had an incredibly sustaining and richly blessed trip, we were so happy to return home. Spring is in full bloom here and the garden is beautiful, rich in color and new growth. What a blessing to come home to our beautiful land , green and lush. The birds have returned chirping up a storm and all is well in our bit of paradise. God sent us on a journey where we benefitted beyond anything we could have imagined. The stars aligned and all that was required was for us to trust in the flow which brought us to so many places and souls. We will never forget the gift that was our blessed journey and invitation to pray with our brothers and sisters in the Love. Love has such rewards and God blesses us in such abundance. The generosity shown to us by so many on this trip is beyond our capacity to repay everyone. I only hope that each person was blessed as they gave so lovingly and abundantly. I don't know when we will be required to pay back this huge spiritual debt but somehow I think that God will take it out of our hides ;) :? We await further instructions. God bless and thank you for reading this long travelogue. Much love.....Al

Thank you Al for have taken the time to write this beautiful travelogue and sharing with all. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Geoff, Al and Jeanne to have made the effort and coming all the long ways to Namibia. Thank you for having had an open heart to experience a little of my life here, with all its complexities in challenges yet joy, in the attempt of bringing change in this world of extremes, not out of guilt, but Love - that Love which comes from God. My sincere gratitude to you, everyone here and in our Love community, for your prayers, your love, your support as we all are blessed in this work. Yet my deepest gratitude goes to those, the poor, sick and lost ones, who give us these opportunities to be a channel of God's Love, who enable us to do the work of compassion, caring and healing. It is you, that calls to our hearts to step out and be that channel of Love.
Herewith I invite my brothers and sisters who wish to work alongside to come and visit us, or connect with us in prayer, or ask God how you can contribute through your gifts to bring change in this place. You are invited and always have a home here. Much love to you all, as I am on my way to Drimiopsis, where we will have a huge feast today, with sweets and chocolate. Loving embrace, Helge.

Thanks Al for sharing yours and Jeanne’s around the world trip and giving us a great description of the places you went and the people you met. It’s wonderful that you were able to meet many new people and also embrace those you have known for some time. I’m sure many new souls were awakened to God’s gift of Divine Love as you and Jeanne carried your Heavenly gift of light in your hearts. This is where we all meet, heart to heart.

Al, thanks for taking time to write and share this story. It was quite an odyssey :-) The part about Drimiopsis did catch my attention. Thanks for noting the good and the bad you saw there. God bless Helge in her work and all those on the ground with her. I am glad you were able to do some pleasant and memorable things there as well.
I don't know when we will be required to pay back this huge spiritual debt but somehow I think that God will take it out of our hides
I don't feel that you are in debt, though you feel that you received so many blessings on the trip, you gave as much as you got. Just bringing people together to pray for Divine Love is a wonderful service, and I am sure your Spiritual Board of Directors and the CEO of the Universe are quite pleased.

It was a great pleasure meeting you and Jeanne and the New York Retreat participants. Things are looking up for Divine Love on Earth.

Love and blessings,

Dear Al,

Thank you so much for this generous sharing of the highlights of your journey with all its blessings, complexities, deep learning and challenges! I was moved in reading yours and Helge's posts. So much evidence in your posts of the Love and care of our Creator, our Angel Guides and Teachers, and yourselves as their instruments here on earth.

I must express my appreciation for Jeanne who, immediately after the Washington Retreat, initiated the communication that led to this many-faceted journey. You two are wonderful partners in service to our Father! Your gifts are so complementary.

I want to confess my initial jealousy that you both were free to undertake this journey, to meet in prayer with so many people I know and those I wish to know, to travel to be with Helge and her family in beautiful Namibia, to spend time with Geoff, to meet the people of Drimiopsis.

I asked for help with my jealousy of you for having the opportunities of these trips and I received it. It has come in the form of knowing that wherever I am and whatever I am doing, I can choose to be there (here) and do and be in awareness of our Creator's Presence and His Great Love. And in that awareness, to become a channel of His Love at the same time as I am a recipient of it.

This work of being in the Love, being the Love, is possible and necessary everywhere we are, no less so in Barb's house supporting her through the routines of the day, than in Namibia or NYC praying with groups or serving as a channel of messages for them. The 'workplace" is different for each of us, as each of us is different and immersed in different circumstances, and this is precisely why we are each so needed. Each of us must be lit with the Love of our Creator to bring that Light into every place, to every person, on our unique walk in life.

A dear friend with whom I shared my feelings said to me, wisely, "our own individual life gives us as much opportunity as anyone else to receive our Father's Love and to be a place where it manifests here on the earth; each of us as a unique soul has a unique path and need not be like any other".

Al, I know what you mean when you say "You know you are G-d guided when everything falls into place as it did on this trip" This blessed awareness has also been part of my days, here at home, in my humble routine. This is how I know when I walk in Grace, carrying the Love and being carried by it.

May we all continue the most important journey of all, the journey to at-one-ment with our Heavenly Father, each in our own unique way.

Many thanks to you Al, and Jeanne, Geoff and Helge!
Love,
Terry
